A message from Principal Gino Catalano - Year 12 class of 2021

381

Dear WHS community,

Last night our Year 12 families and staff celebrated the graduation of our Year 12 class of 2021. It was extremely pleasing to see us all, students, parents/carers and staff come together at the town hall to celebrate this significant milestone for our students.

This morning our students received their ATAR results. Congratulations to all our students for their achievements and I am extremely proud to say that despite two years of very challenging circumstances, our students received the best Year 12 results WHS has ever achieved. Our Dux achieved an ATAR of 99.95, the highest result possible and one of only 39 students across the state to do so. 35 students achieved over 90 and our mean ATAR was just under 75, the highest ever for the school. I will provide further details in the first W Files next year, but for now, I just want to thank the staff for their wonderful support of our students as well as to congratulate each of our students for their resilience, attitude and for completing their secondary school journey despite the challenges they have experienced.

As ex-student Lyn Johnson (1950s student) said last night, “WHS-the greatest school of all”.

I would like to wish you all a great summer break and look forward to welcoming our staff and students back in 2022.

Safe holidays and Hold fast!
