The Department of Education’s Student Excellence Program has strengthened our stimulating learning environment at Williamstown High School by further extending our high-ability students by offering: The High Ability Program and the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series.

The Department of Education’s Victorian High- Ability Program provides a number of Year 7 and 8 students with the opportunity to participate in 10-week online extension and enrichment program, in English and Mathematics. The virtual program, delivered by Virtual School Victoria, focuses on extending and developing students’ Mathematic and English abilities. After completion of the virtual program, students then participate in a face-to-face masterclass with other high-ability students from schools in their local area. High-ability students from Years 7 to 12 at Williamstown High School benefit from the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series. The series provides high-quality, extension activities across all areas of the curriculum. As a school we nominate students to participate in activities within the series according to their abilities and interests. The Department of Education is partnering with more than 20 expert education and not-for-profit organisations, universities, Tech Schools, teacher associations, and Science and Mathematics specialist centres to deliver activities within the series. We always welcome interested families of high-ability students to discuss with us, the activities that are the best fit for their child.
