Our Philosophy, Our Community
The historical importance and traditions of both Williamstown and its high school are valued by the community and are reflected in the school’s crest which shows an anchor with our motto “Hold Fast”.
Williamstown High School prepares students for productive adulthood and responsible citizenship through the pursuit of academic excellence in a safe, supportive and stimulating learning community.
We believe that fostering students’ intellectual, physical and social development occurs best in an environment where both self respect and respect for others are nurtured and where students are encouraged to achieve their best in all classroom and co-curricular activities.
The high standards achieved by the school have been recognised by the Department of Education and Training which has selected Williamstown High School as one of only 27 Victorian state schools to provide an approved Accelerated Select Entry Learning Program for students. The school also provides places for fee paying overseas students. Through this and various international exchange programs our local students are given the opportunity to forge international friendships and understandings.
Our community will provide an exemplary learning environment in a culture which values excellence, integrity, diversity and innovation; developing responsible young people and adults motivated by a passion for life long learning and active participation in society
We aim to become a learning community which explores the social, natural and local environment through a curriculum framed by shared knowledge, thinking skills and a concern for the past present and the future.
