WHS delivers the AUSVELS curriculum to all year 7-9 students at our Bayview Street Campus. Topics taught draw from Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Physics, and Psychology. Our approach to teaching the curriculum is varied, incorporating digital technologies, experiments and hands-on activities to help reinforce theoretical concepts. Guest speakers, excursions and incursions also enhance the students’ learning experiences. Every year the Big Science Competition is held and registration is open to all students.
The Bayview Street Campus has three well equipped Science laboratories and one purpose-built Marine Biology room. Our campus location allows easy access to the Jawbone Reserve and Marine Sanctuary, which offers exceptional fieldwork experiences for our students. Our onsite Marine Biologist offers a Marine Biology elective class to year 9 students and runs a Marine Club at lunchtimes for any interested students.
