Struggletown – set in a rundown ghetto – is a musical about two messengers, ‘Woody & Major’, who spread the political gospel of their wise prophet – ‘Ethel the Shop Keeper’s Daughter’. Ethel’s political rival – an arrogant white male billionaire known as ‘The Swamplord’ – has recently been elected as mayor of Struggletown. Unhappy with the outcome of the recent election, ‘Woody & Major’ set about on an impolitic quest to change the hearts and minds of the simple folk of Struggletown. During their adventures in Struggletown – the duo come across several fed-up locals, a Wall, a Gang, Old Blind Tom, a Salesman, Leaky Len and a congregation of Blind Activists – all in a torrent of spin.
