Trip to Parliament House
On Thursday the 20th of June, five student leaders were given the opportunity to go to a Female School Leaders Event which was held at Parliament House here in Melbourne CBD. Five students from our school and five students from Bayside College were invited by Melissa Horne to join her at Parliament House for lunch. Before lunch all students went into a conference room and watched ‘Question Time’ live. By watching question time, we got see how ‘Question Time’ runs, how the speaker works, we also saw how a lot of the time the questions get ignored and it’s more of a debate. After watching ‘Question Time’ we were able to have a tour of Parliament House and visit the library, Lower House Chamber and then the Upper House Chamber. We then met up with Melissa Horne for lunch and had a lot of great conversations while enjoying a great lunch at Sessions Cafe at Parliament House. After talking to Melissa Horne about topics such as public transport and women in leadership we then walked around Parliament House and made our way home. Thank you to Melissa Horne for the opportunity and thank you to Ms. Leggett and Ms. Zhou for taking the students to Parliament House.
